The campaign aims to pressure Congress to include the $400 Billion investment in Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) promised by President Biden in the budget reconciliation package.<\/p>\n<h2>Home Care Can\u2019t Wait<\/h2>\n<p>The ads feature the stories of Arizona residents who rely on home care to survive at home with their loved ones. They close with an urgent plea to call Senator Sinema and tell her, \u201chome care can\u2019t wait.\u201d The significant six-figure campaign starts on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlthough the need for home care is enormous, acquiring services is sadly out of reach for too many. Currently, <a href=\"http:\/\/womeneffectactionfund.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/WEAF_StateHCBS_AZ_v22.pdf\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">158,000<\/a> Arizonans depend on home-and community-based services (HCBS). Approximately <a href=\"https:\/\/phinational.org\/policy-research\/workforce-data-center\/#states=04\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">67,000<\/a> home care workers reside in the state. Across the United States, almost a million people are on waiting lists for home care and in danger of being ripped away from their families and forced to live in institutions,\u201d said Ady Barkan, Co-Founder of Be A Hero. \u201cSadly, we know that during the pandemic, at least <a href=\"https:\/\/data.cms.gov\/covid-19\/covid-19-nursing-home-data\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">134,000<\/a> nursing home residents died of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.valuewalk.com\/china-coronavirus\/\">COVID-19<\/a>. We hope we can count on Senator Sinema to be a hero and fully fund the initial $400 billion needed to make critical investments into HCBS. We cannot wait any longer.\"<\/p>\n<h2>Taryn's Story<\/h2>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=_pvGl0UjJW4\" target=\"_blank\">first ad<\/a> shares the story of Taryn Bailey, a 16-year old who is only able to live at home and be out and about in the community thanks to her lifelong occupational therapist Nina Castillo. The piece, narrated by Taryn\u2019s mother, will run on TV and appear on digital.<\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/_pvGl0UjJW4\" width=\"796\" height=\"448\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h2>Marcos's Story<\/h2>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=7KQCeWyLSfI&amp;feature=youtu.be\" target=\"_blank\">second ad<\/a> features Marcos Castillo, a quadriplegic who needs home care to assist him at home. When another caregiver is unavailable, Marcos must rely on his girlfriend to pick up the slack, which he notes is \u201cnot fair to anyone\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.valuewalk.com\/declining-birth-rate-america\/\">mental health<\/a> or relationship.\u201d Adds Marcos, the problem is, \u201cwe have a wage disparity.
